The best things in life are.....free

So, before I start to pour myself out in this blog, let me ask you all a very simple question. How many of us have have really pondered over what we "need" in life. Again, to re-instate it's the "need" that I'm talking about and not "want". :) Definitely not trying to deflect you on the economic concept and the differentiation between need and want but a rather simple question: What we need? Sure, one thing that comes to our mind is the rather cliché or stereotypical sub-standard response: Food, shelter and clothing, but aren't these rather touted as "wants" than "needs"?

Let me put it rather subtly now. Food, shelter or clothing are sure very much a need for us to have a rather comfortable life or to put it: basic necessity (sure not steering to economic now also:) ), but these are "wants" for us, as humans, and not typically "needs". A want and not a need (a very thin line to say between them). A need, as I may opine, would be cherished moments with our close one, laughter, happiness, peace and all things happy.

So, recently, as a weekend rule, mr.husband and I were out for a weekly dinner date to a mall :). As it was a weekend, the food outlets were hustling with families and peeps out for "their" weekend ritual, like ours. Bound and compelled by my peculiar habit of noticing people around me (while mr.husband noticed the food to decide what looks best and what to order; one responsibility he gleefully undertakes ), I saw a few kids (obviously with respective parents) were glued to their phones (distracting themselves to glory), while parents busy chit-chatting. A rather standard scene these days I feel, so I obviously slided my vision from one scene to another to yet another (like I said its a very common scene these days), until food arrived.

After we had our food, we decided to take a little stroll and enjoy some fresh air. As we were walking, we noticed, just outside the mall a kids play area has come-up with a few swings for kids and a small sit-up area for parents. We couldn't help ignore the fun the kids were having with their parents in the play area. It was an open-space and nothing mattered to the kids more than the time they were spending with their parents under the sky, running hither and thither, in open space, careless, carefree. Not bounded technologically, but rather happily. It was a sight that had us glued and smile at the happy times we were witnessing.

Ain't the best things in life are....free?
