Struggles of starting a new job - Making the move

Beginning a new job in an unfamiliar atmosphere is thrilling, but it can also bring about discomfort. Regardless of past work history, you may find yourself feeling like a beginner among a crowd, drawing the focus of all. How can one overcome the unease experienced in the first few weeks? Is there a way to achieve a feeling of ease when you are completely new? Additionally, if you are tasked with onboarding a new team member, what steps can you implement to support their assimilation?
How can one make this a comfortable experience?
· Be Curious: It is important to have a clear understanding of your coworkers' roles and how you can enhance their work before suggesting any changes. By demonstrating an awareness of their needs, you can initiate the process of building relationships, as your genuine interest will leave them with a positive perception of your involvement.
· One step a time: Being new on a job means fresh perspective & ideas and it is okay to offer suggestions. However, be conscious of the fact that any existing system has a history of years of hard work of someone / a team. Don’t rush into enhancement and upgrades. Take one step at a time and gradually Engage your co-workers in the vision for the future journey.
· Never say no to learn: Upon joining a new organization, it is likely that you have limited knowledge about it beyond what you have gathered in preparation for interviews. It is essential to dedicate time to familiarize yourself with the company and its unique culture. Take the initiative to educate yourself about the organization and its values.
Bear in mind that it takes time, and every other person was once a newcomer as well. Don't be afraid to request assistance from others when it comes to getting to know your new coworkers.
Your worries about feeling out of place as a new member of the team are probably more exaggerated in your own perception than in the perceptions of your colleagues.
One settled, you will develop new daily habits, acquaint yourself with a considerable amount of unfamiliar jargon, and connect with a few people who can help you navigate the social dynamics of the workplace.
